ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1996-- Telefonica del Peru has become the first Latin American cellular company to officially launch CDMA commercial service. The introduction of the world's most advanced digital wireless telephone service, using Motorola Cellular Infrastructure Group (CIG) equipment, will initially have the capacity to serve more than 10,000 mobile phone users in Peru's capital city, Lima.
