Henry Ziegler Steinway, great grandson of Steinway & Sons founder Henry Engelhard Steinway, and the last member of the Steinway family to head the famed piano maker, died on September 18, a month after his 93rd birthday. He is survived by his wife Polly and children William, Kate, Daniel, Harry, and Susan.
In a 71-year career in the piano industry that began with an apprenticeship on the factory floor and progressed through every level of management, the former Steinway CEO has acquired perhaps the broadest perspective of any piano executive in memory.
