TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 1996--Tucson Electric Power Co. (NYSE:TEP) and its affiliate, Global Solar Energy, LLC, Thursday announced the ground breaking of a $1.5 million facility to mass produce its revolutionary, state-of-the-art photovoltaic (PV) materials.

The manufacturing plant is being constructed on 3.5 acres in the heart of the Civano development in Tucson, and is believed to be the "greenest" and most energy efficient industrial building ever constructed in the state of Arizona.
