Dear Kimberly:
Food poisoning is caused by eating food that is contaminated by bacteria or their poisonous wastes (toxins) and viruses. Some types of food poisoning are also caused by eating foods that are naturally poisonous, such as certain plants, mushrooms, or some fish.
