COLOMBO, Nov 24 Asia Pulse - Sri Lanka's exports earnings in September fell 9.4 per cent to US$652 million from a year ago on lower demand from the US and other big markets, the central bank said.
Industrial exports fell 15.5 per cent to US$467 million dragged down by a 13.1 per cent fall in earnings to US$253 million from the textiles industry, the bank said in a statement on the monthly trade performance.
The textiles industry is a key sector of the economy, generating a large number of jobs and being one of the top foreign exchange earners.
