Barring a last-minute reprieve, the Eugene area has lost its marquee professional golf tournament, the Oregon Classic, another victim of a struggling economy.
Tournament director Chris Hoff confirmed Thursday that Kendall Automotive Group, the principal sponsor of the Nationwide Tour event since its inception in 1998, informed the Oregon Classic earlier this fall that it would not underwrite the event next year.
Attempts to secure another cornerstone sponsor for the event at Shadow Hills Country Club in Junction City have not been successful, Hoff said, and the Oregon Classic will not be listed on the ...
