WINDSOR, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 1996--ADVO Inc. (NYSE:AD) announced today that it has agreed with Knight-Ridder Inc. to mail advertising inserts for Knight-Ridder's Saint Paul Pioneer Press in St. Paul/Minneapolis beginning in January 1997. According to ADVO, this program is a pilot which could lead to similar initiatives in other areas of the country. ADVO and Knight-Ridder will continue to compete for print advertising customers in the Twin Cities.
