A NEW Tesco Express store would decimate trade for local businesses and cause traffic chaos in Rhyl, residents fear.
More than 1,500 people have signed a petition opposing plans to build a new supermarket at the former Esplanade service station on Coast Road.
The 371-square metre development would have parking for 10 cars and three bicycles, plus one disabled parking space.
A Tesco Extra opened in Rhuddlan Road last Thursday.
The petition will be presented to Denbighshire County Council today by Angela Sykes, of Denmore Premier Foodstore.
