PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Dec. 23--Hotel room nights, the key index by which the economic impact of the Rhode Island Convention Center is measured, are up 16 percent this year.
According to a report presented Friday at the monthly meeting of the Convention Center Authority, convention and trade-show business has generated about 71,000 room nights (nights at which a hotel room is occupied by a delegate) at Providence and Warwick hotels for the current fiscal year.
In the last fiscal year, which ended June 30, the convention business generated about 61,000 room nights.
