The presidential election of 2008 was all about hope and change, and the U.S. voters were thirsting for both. On November 4, a record crush of people poured into polling places across the country. More than 133 million Americans cast votes, and they overwhelmingly chose Barack Obama. Come January, the son of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya who describes himself as "a skinny kid with a funny name" will become the 44th president of the United States.
