Unpleasant but not serious infections in adults can be fatal for a very young baby whose immune system hasn't yet developed - it almost happened to my own son.

So I know that the thought of passing on a life threatening disease to their newborn baby is every parent's worst nightmare.

Now a group of paediatric intensive care doctors suggests parents of new babies should have booster vaccinations themselves for whooping cough to protect their newborns.
