Just in time for the holidays, a federal judge has ruled that a Massachusetts law that effectively banned the importation of wines from small, out-of-state wineries and retailers is unconstitutional. The ruling is in keeping with a 2005 U.S. Supreme Court ruling and a victory for common sense and fairness in commerce. We urge the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission to forgo any appeal and draft rules giving consumers free choice.
