WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 1997--U.S. Bioscience Inc. (AMEX:UBS) Tuesday announced that it has been granted a U.S. patent and FDA marketing clearance for a crystalline dosage form of Ethyol(R) (amifostine).
Ethyol is the first of a new class of drugs known as cytoprotective agents -- which, when given prior to chemotherapy, are designed to selectively shield healthy tissues while allowing anticancer drugs to destroy malignant cells.
