ROTTERDAM -- There was little fanfare at the Mabee Farm two years ago when the crew of New Netherlands Routes Inc. laid the keel for the Onrust, which at the time was little more than a long block of wood.

But for members of the nonprofit preservation group and a dedicated contingent of volunteers, that unadorned piece of timber was just the beginning of a long and at times arduous journey that is nearing fruition.
