Dec. 5--The Hutchinson school district is planning to quickly secure a building permit for its largest bond project after the Hutchinson City Council decided this week public entities are no longer exempt from the building permit fees.
If the district can acquire a building permit before the end of the year for the $29.6 million Hutchinson High School project -- part of the $78.8 million bond issue approved by voters in 2006 -- then about $136,000 in fees could be avoided.
"If we can get it done before the end of December, it will save us that much money," said Bob Williams, the school district's bond project manager.
