Jan. 10--In an otherwise glowing earnings report, First Bank System announced Thursday that a promising new credit card venture with Target stores has bit the dust.
One year ago, First Bank rolled out a "co-branded" credit card with Dayton Hudson Corp.'s Target stores. The bank had already had a strong success with an earlier co-branded card with another locally-based partner, Northwest Airlines.
Despite "promising results," Target decided to focus on its own private label credit card, First Bank said. The co-branded card with First Bank will be discontinued early this year.
