Leaving the former ABC5 behind, the new TV5 sent a strong signal to top networks ABS-CBN and GMA-7 and that is "to give them [ABS and GMA] a run for their money," announced CEO Christopher Sy late Thursday night at the station's media re-launch in Greenhills, San Juan.

TV5's refurbished arsenal is hoping to capitalize on alternative programming, departing from the "same offering" TV giants ABS-CBN and GMA-7 have made out of its respective loyal viewers. The new 5 totally drifts to a different track with new non-conforming shows aimed at the 30-year-old and below market.
