SYDNEY, Dec 8 Asia Pulse - Building products maker James Hardie Industries NV (ASX:JHX) says a recent rise in its share price is due to favourable US housing market news.

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) wrote to the building products company on Friday seeking explanation for a rise in its share price from $A3.49 ($US2.25) on Wednesday to a high of $4.41 during Friday's trade on Friday.

James Hardie shares opened trade on Monday at $4.13 and continued to climb early on, reaching $4.47 before falling back to $4.20, up seven cents, at the close.
