BEIJING, Dec 8 Asia Pulse - China's five major power generation groups incurred a total loss of 27 billion yuan (US$3.927555 billion) in January-October due mainly to the coal price surge in the first half of 2008 and the slide in power demand after July, according to a report by Shanghai Securities News Monday.

Included power groups are China Huaneng Group, China Datang Corp., China Huadian Corp., Guodian Corp., and China Power Investment Corp.
