Americans believe in marriage.
Eighty-five percent will get married (less than 70 percent of Europeans will). Only 10 percent of Americans agree that "marriage is an outdated institution" (26 percent of Britons and 36 percent of French agree with that).
These figures come from a Rutgers University study, "The State of Our Unions 2007," and look at data on all Americans. A study of attitudes toward marriage among American Catholics, conducted by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate, or CARA, closely mirrors these general numbers.
A considerable majority of Americans also believe that marriage has a spiritual dimension. According to ...
