Deli patronage rose to 70.5% in 2008, vs. 68.9% in 2006, according to the INTERNATIONAL DAIRY.DELI.BAKERY ASSOCIATION'S (IDDBA) annual trends report, What's In Store 2009. With the economic crisis causing more consumers to shun restaurants and eat at home more often, the deli is attractively positioned for further growth. According to a TECHNOMIC survey, 85% of consumers eat dinner at home more often due to the economic downturn.
