A MAN wrote a letter to the BIR: "I have been unable to sleep knowing that I cheated on my taxes. I have enclosed a cheque for P10,000. If I still can't sleep, I'll pay the rest."

The gospel of this 29th Sunday of the year also concerns about paying of taxes. The Pharisees (religious leaders) are asking Jesus a question.
"Master," they said, "is it lawful to pay tax to Caesar or not?"
The question was a well-laid trap because if Jesus said "yes," the people would hate Him. Nobody likes to pay taxes, let alone to a foreign power occupying their homeland.
