Venezuela's ministry of basic industries and mining (Mibam) plans to review 73.1% of the country's mining concessions to determine which have expired, a ministry official told BNamericas.
"The goal is to focus more on developing the minerals and resources that we have in the country, like gold, diamonds, nickel and bauxite," he said.
The official said there are currently 357 concessions in existence for a variety of minerals and Mibam will analyze 261 to determine whether they have expired or concessionaires have ended their contracts.
