Norwegian shipping company Belships ASA (OSE:BEL) said on Wednesday (10 December) that its 50%-owned company Elkem Chartering AS has successfully negotiated a cancellation of a charter contract.

The contract, which was to run until the second quarter 2009, was cancelled against a compensation of USD4.5m.
