Meta-search engines. Intranet search engines. Limited area search engines. Subject lists. Directories. Specialty indexes. It seems that the varieties of databases and search engines are proliferating almost as quickly as information on the Internet! As well they should--not only can anybody put information up on the Internet, but it has also become so easy to do with Web pages. And because those pages are pretty unorganized across a worldwide information system, there must be some effective way to identify and find them.
