The story of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" should serve as a caution about making snap judgments. Any doubts about the Village Theatre's ability to stage the demanding musical are quelled by this lavish and pulsing production.
"Beauty and the Beast" was Disney's first foray onto Broadway, a big-budget success that spawned a stream of film-to-stage productions that include "The Lion King" and "The Little Mermaid."
This is the latest of Village Theatre's ambitious ventures into the realm of hot-ticket glamour works, close on the heels of last year's acclaimed presentation of the Elton John/Tim Rice "Aida." Such hubris, ...
