PITTSBURGH, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Olympic Steel, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZEUS) of Cleveland and USX-U.S. Steel Group (NYSE: X) announced that they have completed a previously announced joint feasibility study and will proceed with the formation of a joint venture to process laser welded sheet steel blanks. The joint venture, which will conduct business as Olympic Laser Processing, plans to construct a new facility and purchase two laser welding lines in 1997, with production expected to begin in 1998.
The facility will be located in the upper midwest to conveniently serve the large concentration of automotive stamping plants in that region. It is expected to employ ...
