Before the start of Civil War practices Monday, Mike Bellotti met with his Oregon football team and delivered a message he had expressed to reporters the night before.
Saturday's visit to Oregon State isn't about keeping the Beavers from clinching a Rose Bowl berth, he told his players. It's not about proving wrong those who consider the Ducks underdogs for the 4 p.m. game in Corvallis.
"That's not his thing," UO senior defensive end Nick Reed said. "It's kind of about self-respect. Who cares what they're going to be doing? It's about us."
