George Hovekamp, president of Cincinnati-based distributor The Kruse Company, says the opportunity to build sales is the main reason his company decided to buy Hader Hardware, a 15-unit chain of stores in the Cincinnati area.
"Our focus is on distribution," Hovekamp says, "but that can mean owning retail stores if they can add value to our entire distribution network."
Kruse, a Distribution America member, had already serviced about 30 independently owned Trustworthy Hardware stores in the greater Cincinnati market.
One advantage to the Hader purchase is the opportunity to leverage advertising expenses.
