Henry Ford Health System in Detroit is using separate joint ventures announced last week to expand its optometric services and boost its geographic reach on the east side of town.
Henry Ford Health, the region's second-largest health-care system, is strengthening its hand in the Grosse Pointes by merging Henry Ford Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms with Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe.
The assets of the two hospitals and other ancillary facilities are being placed in an as-yet unnamed joint-venture company and the operations will be managed jointly, said Henry DeVries Jr., regional vice president of Bon Secours Health System Inc.
