There are several ways to spell chutzpah . But the word of Yiddish origin might have been defined by the New York Yankees as baseball's winter meetings in Las Vegas came to a close.
The Yankees, who are set to pay free-agent pitcher CC Sabathia $161 million and are dangling another $80 to $90 million for free-agent pitcher A.J. Burnett, stalled talks with the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday about a trade involving center fielders Mike Cameron and Melky Cabrera because the Yankees want the Brewers to pick up some of the $10 million Cameron is owed next season.
That just might qualify as "unmitigated effrontery or ...
