Music is Ben Gibbard's abiding passion in life.
"This is what gets me out of the bed in the morning," says the songwriter and lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie.
The pop-rock group, founded in 1997 in Bellingham, is one of Seattle's most successful bands of the new century. The group's 2005 album, "Plans" (its first for Atlantic Records after launching its career on Seattle's Barsuk Records), went platinum after selling more than 1 million copies.
