Egyptian Q3 unemployment rate fell to 8.6 pct

Unemployment in Egypt fell to 8.6 percent of the workforce in the July-September quarter of 2008, from 8.9 percent in the same period of 2007, the Egyptian government statistics agency CAPMAS said on Sunday.

The agency said there were 2.121 million people unemployed in the quarter, out of a workforce of 24.807 million, compared with a year ago when there were 2.095 million unemployed out of a workforce of 23.54 million. --Reuters
