Unified hospital should dominate the cityscape but it carries big debt
Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center are planning to merge, creating a hospital network that stretches from the Upper West Side down and across to the East Side of Manhattan. The deal comes just weeks after Long Island Jewish Hospital called off its proposed merger with Beth Israel.
