"I am here today to respond to the lawsuit filed on behalf of Mr. Richard Jewell against Cox Enterprises, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and its reporters and editors.
"Before I speak to the lawsuit, I want to take a moment to express some personal thoughts about this unfortunate set of circumstances.
"The fact is we are here because we were doing our job in Centennial Olympic Park at 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, just as Richard Jewell was.
