Equality budget cut 'over feud with Justice Department'
THE Equality Authority and its former chief executive, Niall Crowley, were singled out because the State's anti-discrimination agency failed to bow to Department of Justice "securocrats", it was claimed last night.
Paddy Keating, the national secretary of the Impact trade union and a former board member of the Equality Authority, said the 43pc cut to the agency's budget next year, which prompted Mr Crowley's resignation last week, was the product of "systemic tension" between the agency and the Government over legal claims by public sector workers.
The Equality Authority has some 500 cases ...
