Article: EC Regulators Tell Slovakia To Clean Up Its Act.

The European Commission's regulators have decided that recent amendments to Slovakia's postal legislation infringe EC Treaty antitrust rules. They have given Slovakia a month to re-open hybrid mail services to competition. The regulators said legal tinkering has extended the monopoly of the incumbent operator, Slovensk[sz] PoUta, to the delivery of hybrid mail services; the market was previously competitive. As a consequence, the EC says, Slovak postal operators that had entered this market are now prevented from continuing their activity and their economic viability is endangered.
