US president-elect Barack Hussein Obama has called for a grand approach to fighting terror in Iraq and South Asia. In Iraq's case he wants its six neighbours - Iran's Shi'ite theocracy, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey, as well as their regional allies and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) - to be involved in efforts to make the country's stability sustainable before a phased US withdrawal is completed.
