US president-elect Barack Hussein Obama has called for a grand approach to fighting terror in Iraq and South Asia. In Iraq's case he wants its six neighbours - Iran's Shi'ite theocracy, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey, as well as their regional allies and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) - to be involved in efforts to make the country's stability sustainable before a phased US withdrawal is completed.
Obama has called for as broad a coalition as possible to fight terror in South Asia to involve Afghanistan, India and Pakistan as well as NATO, including Turkey, and the UNSC (involving China and Russia). He said military ...
