SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 1997--Luxury home values remained high in the San Francisco Bay Area but drifted lower in Los Angeles and San Diego at the end of last year, according to the First Republic Prestige Home Index(TM).

San Francisco Bay Area luxury home values finished 1996 with an Index rating of 198.12, almost even with the record-breaking third quarter index figure of 199.71 and the second highest level in the Index's history.

"Bay Area luxury home values increased their value an average of 4.8% in 1996," reported Katherine August-deWilde, chief operating officer of First Republic Bancorp Inc.
