CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- IES Industries Inc. (NYSE: IES) today announced record fourth quarter earnings of $17.9 million, an increase of 29 percent over the $13.8 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 1995. Earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 1996 were $0.59, compared with $0.47 in the same period of the prior year.
For the year, IES reported 1996 earnings of $61 million, or $2.04 per share. When adjusted for the expenses incurred defending against the hostile takeover attempt by MidAmerican Energy Co.
