New York will hire a new concert producer for the 2009 state fair after being criticized for giving another producer a $700,000 no-bid contract to book the musicians this year.
The state will pay Triangle Talent Inc. "significantly less" than what it paid Live Nation Worldwide Inc. in 2008 to book performers for the fair's concerts and to promote the shows, a Triangle Talent executive said Friday.
Frederic Pierce, who speaks for the fair, and Triangle CEO David Snowden declined to disclose how much Triangle will earn until the state comptroller and attorney general approve the contract.
