NEW YORK -- Sony Electronics has introduced the first digital video (DV) cassette recorder in the U.S., according to Jay Sato, vice president of the company's personal video division.
The product, which is positioned to complement Sony's line of digital Handycam camcorders, allows for editing and copying home videos made with digital camcorders.
The DV recorder will ship in April and sell for $4,199. It can be used with any brand of mini or standard DV cassettes. The recorder has a dual-well system to accommodate either tape size.
