ATLANTA--Feb. 11--Varig Brazilian Airlines is ending its marketing marriage with Delta Air Lines.
The two airlines have jointly sold seats on Varig's flights to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, since 1994, but Delta announced Monday that Varig is withdrawing from the pact.
The carriers are negotiating a cutoff date for their alliance, after which Delta no longer will sell seats on Varig flights. The arrangement enabled both to share in the service with reduced risk.
Carlos Muzzio, Varig's North American general manager, said Atlanta-Brazil flights are doing "fantastically well" and will "definitely" continue after the Delta pact ...
