ATLANTA--Feb. 13--It's a puzzler.
Shares of National Data (ticker symbol NDC) have tumbled about 20 percent over the past month, finishing Tuesday at $37.50, down $1.12 1/2.
Company officials don't have an explanation. But they suspect one reason the shares traded as high as 47.12 1/2 in early to mid-January was speculation National Data was about to buy another Atlanta-based company, Medaphis (MEDA).
National Data punctured that speculation by issuing a statement on Jan. 30 that it "has not had, and does not currently have" acquisition talks with Medaphis, which provides a variety of financial and software services to the ...
