This morning, civic leaders will celebrate completion of $9.6 million worth of road improvements around the federal courthouse in downtown Eugene.
But aside from the new roads, sidewalks and streetlights, the neighborhood surrounding the courthouse remains largely unchanged two years after the building opened. No prospects for development are in sight, and none are likely until the economy begins to recover, city officials and real estate professionals say.
"I haven't heard one peep," said Tim Campbell, a commercial real estate broker. "Everyone's just put the brakes on right now."
