Sri Lankan tableware exporter Dankotuwa Porcelain said it intends to make a big marketing effort to penetrate India as an over-valued rupee and slowing demand affects its traditional Western markets. The company has reported a loss in the January - October 2008 period as its competitiveness was affected by high energy costs and an over-valued domestic currency. But it made a small profit in the September quarter.

Dankotuwa Porcelain managing director Sunil Wijesinha said the company was now working out a strategy under which India will become a more important market.
