SOUTHBRIDGE - A volunteer group has written a big prescription.
A 20-foot-long eyeglass frame sculpture is headed to town next year, if the remaining $50,000 or so can be raised for the metalsmith to finish the work.
The galvanized, 3,500-pound piece will be courtesy of the 12-member Optical Sculpture Committee.
It will be tilted and stand 18 feet at the Town Common, opposite the former American Optical complex, a company that fueled the town and region with innovation, jobs and pride, committee members said.
