Visitors to The Nature of Diamonds may be surprised to learn that Canada has become the world's third-largest diamond producer by value, right behind Botswana and Russia. De Beers Canada has played a major role in that success. Earlier this year, the company opened two new diamond mines.
One of them, the Snap Lake Mine near Yellowknife, NWT, is the first De Beers fully underground mine outside Africa and the second, the Victor Mine in northern Ontario, is the first diamond mine in the province.
