On 2 December 2008, The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St Louis, Missouri, USA, denied Zoltek Corp's petition for a re-hearing in its case against Gurit's subsidiary, Structural Polymer Group Ltd, now called Gurit (UK).
Zoltek had asked the Court to reconsider its earlier decision to affirm a jury's verdict in Gurit's favour, which resulted in an award to the Swiss company of more than US$21 million. Gurit says it has now filed a motion to collect the entire award directly from a bond that Zoltek was required to post in order to launch its appeal.
