Feb. 15--Thomson Consumer Electronics' economic food chain has many links in Indiana -- and the next in line, after Thomson workers, are the company's suppliers.
Many of them are watching and wondering about their futures, following the announcement Thursday by Thomson's French parent company, Thomson SA, that it would close two major Indiana operations and put 1,500 people out of work by April 1998.
Thomson plans to close its Bloomington television assembly plant, which employs about 1,100, and an Indianapolis plastic molding operation that employs 420, and move those jobs to Mexico. The company's Carmel headquarters, which employs roughly ...
